So tis been a good while since, anything has been put up on here, sure maybe someone though i’d be talking about how development of the amazing game that is LittleBigPlanet is going and talking about all it’s super features and stuff.
Sadly that can’t be done by me. Kinda bound by law not to let a feline out the sack.
I can however tell you it’s going great. Working for Sony at MM studios (or as I call us ‘LittleBigSony’), testing LBP all day is truely a dream come true. My boss and fellow collegues are top-notch and the MM team is full of brilliant, unique minds and personalities!
If you want some LBP info and stuff then head to Eurogamer.net for a nice interview with David Smith. Also Gametrailers has some nice footage. Finally the MediaMolecule Blog for a the lovely and fuzzy personal side of MM! (Btw this is where i work. While it was being decorated, pre LittleBigSony invasion)
What do I think of QA?
Well sometimes it can be really tedious and boring, when I need to do some monotonous checks or look at part of the game that is particularly buggy. Or it’s the second/third day in a row that I’m doing overtime. However at times like that, that’s what a joke with the others or Mr Caffeine is for!
Sometimes it’s amazing! Having time to just play about with the level editor and make some sort of Ninja Academy assault course or some sort of flying machine. Also making new versions of my “Ultimate Cyborg Ninja” costume is bad ass! Seeing new features come in, or levels being redesigned is also really fun. New music too! The soundtrack for LBP is pretty darn good!
I’ve got me a badass “Play Create Share” hoodie which i will post a picture of at somepoint!

Thats right!
Constantin Jupp has finally started his epic tale of life in the games industry! Yes there was work experience before this (at Kuju London, lovely place, lovely people!) but now it’s real employment!
I am…a GAMES TESTER! “HAHAHA Silly boy, prepare for painful overtime and playing some boring game over and over” is what most of you are probably saying, well the next word you will saying is “touche, you lucky punk”!
As I am indeed am Games Tester and there will be overtime, however the game I will be testing is LITTLE BIG PLANET! (your face = :O right now) I shall be in the super secretly located and beautifully decorated Media Molecule offices playing what is going to be one of the best reasons to own not only a PS3 but a games console, surrounded by some of the industries greatest talent!
Excitement is high!

While working through the tutorials mentioned in the previous post, I tried to have a fiddle with Image Based Lighting, the following is the result!
Render
“Haven’t got a cluuuee what’s going on!?”
Wrong type of materials, intensity too high, and a few other factors is probably what caused this.
Kinda cool and abstract, I like the shadow of the chair that reflects the chair itself! Crazy!

Here is a render of a living room I am currently working on. I’m following the Digital Tutors Interiors Tutorials.
Click for Render
(Ambient light is just used for getting rid of default light, this isn’t final lighting.)

That’s right, SPAM!
For some reason I keep getting all these Spam comments, tis annoying! I mark them as Spam, so all of my -5 readers (yes, that minus 5) don’t have to put up with them. A kind “Please Stop with the SPAM bots” is directed at all you Spammy Spammersons out there!
Btw -5 readership, I am proud to say I got a 2:1 BSc Computer Visualisation and Games!

Currently Constantin is working through some Digital Tutors Maya Tutorials. Specifically the Interior ones! (making a living room)
Will post some renders (soon) of what has been created so far, it’s pretty similar to the one in the tutorial, the plan is to follow the tutorial exactly pretty much and then once finished make my own room.
They’re good tutorials, learnt a lot from them so far, also they’re Maya 8 and so helping me easier with the switch from Maya 7.
Also….

Ok, so no action from the Kiock for a while, thought I’d give all of you an update.
Been clearing out my attic and job hunting recently. Stumbled across a whole bunch of old character designs. I kept the designs because I was quite fond of them, so what I’m gonna do is scan the originals up on here, and then do redesigns of them. Then take those and make them into 3D.
You can expect this and much more once I’ve finished sorting the attic and got some employment as I’ll be able to get into a nice routine!
Stay smiley!

New and improved www.cjupp.com is nearly ready!
I honestly don’t know what I was thinking with the old design! The new one is much better, in both design and script!
So enjoy the old while it’s around, as the new is just round the corner!
